"Lloyds Brokers - Too Impetuous" returns triumphantly

'The yacht "Lloyds Brokers - Too Impetuous" returned home triumphantly to their Cleveland Yacht Club today after competing in the Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race.

The veteran (1981) yacht achieved the remarkable result of being 1st in the Second Division, and 5th overall on PHS Handicap. It took them 3 days, 16 hours to complete the course at an average speed of 7.1 knots.

It was the second Sydney to Hobart race for Rudolf Weber, the Skipper/Owner. He had competed 25 years previously in his boat "Fair Dinkum II".

Rudolf said "I discovered the boat (a Holland 43) in 2002 up in Hervey Bay. It was in a very dilapidated state, but having once competed in the Admirals Cup in 1983, I could see 'good bones'. It has taken me several years to bring the boat back to it's original condition, and assemble a top notch crew. Like all participants, we always believed the impossible could be achieved."

During the voyage, they were battered by winds of over 40 knots, and yet completed the last few miles of the race almost becalmed in a tacking duel to the finish. Rudolf commented that "the crew were magnificent. Most of them are Skippers of their own Trailer Sailers and had always dreamed of competing in such a prestigious Blue Water Classic.

Of course we were up against crews with professional Sailers. With sometimes four headsail changes in a single hour, it was exhausting work. It was a very proud moment for me and my wife Robyn who was there to meet us in Hobart".
